George Smith AS Media - Planning Work (Module 1)

My planning work so far;

Front Page and Double Page Spread Analysis - I looked at the music magazine "Kerrang" for my front page and double page spread analysis. I think that the front page spread went really well and i found that i could analysis it quite in depth. Unfortunately i found analysising the double page spread more difficult because i had chosen a page that was a bit plain and boring and i found it hard to find things to analyse.
"Every Picture Tells A Story" - This was when i went out with a camera and took a sequence of 6 pictures to create a little story. I went to our school gym and took pictures of students using different excersise machines. I think that it went quite well because it wad the first time that i used a camera. Some of my pictures were a little bit blurry and unclear but i was quite pleased with them because they were my first photos.

Analysising Two Websites - The two websites which i chose to analyse were "Q" and "Rock Sound". I really enjoyed this task because i got to look at two different but similar websites, quite in depth and see their strengths and weaknesses. I thought that "Q" was a much more proffesional website with lots of information and it was very user friendly. "Rock Sound" was quite dull because of the colours and also didnt have very much information on it.

Desining My Magazine Front Cover - This was a really interesting task as it allowed me to deisgn my own front page. I tried to use the techniques that i have learnt over the past module i.e. The rule of 3 colours. I tried to make the front cover really interesting and exciting without putting too much information on it and overcrowding it, making it look unproffesional. I used photoshop to creat this Front Cover. It took me a while to get my head around using photoshop as it was a new program that i havent used before, but i think that it was a great product to use to create the front cover.
This was the first publication that i have done on photoshop and i think that it went quite well. I think that the Masthead looks quite proffesional and the colours are quite dark which compliments the rest of the colours on the page. I havent filled the whole page which pictures or text as i didnt want to "clog" it up. Im not sure on the colour of the background but i had difficulty in choosing a colour which complimented the rest of the page.

Designing My Magazine Double Page Spread - This task was again quite interesting but i found it alot harder because i had to fill a double page with interesting information that people would want to read, and this included pictures, colours, articles and titles that i think im going to use. I also found this challenging because i had to draw and design it all by hand and because it was on a bigger scale than the Front Cover and it had to be clearer and in more detail.
